Representative Ilhan Omar, who has been serving in the U.S. Congress representing Minnesota's 5th District since 2019, shared insights from her recent engagements through a series of tweets. Her tweets highlight various activities and meetings she attended during a district work period.

On January 27, 2025, Omar posted about starting the district work period at Justice Page Middle School in Minneapolis. She was accompanied by State Representative Emma Greenman and another local official. In her tweet, she noted their interaction with students: "We were so impressed by the students' thoughtful and informed questions."

Later that day, Omar tweeted about a meeting with Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty. The focus of their discussion was on safeguarding immigrant communities amid what she described as "indiscriminate attacks from the Trump Administration." She stated: "I had a productive meeting with @HennepinAtty Mary Moriarty to discuss how we can ensure the rights of our immigrant communities are protected..."

On January 28, 2025, Omar expressed gratitude for participation in a town hall event held in Fridley. The event marked the first town hall of the year and saw attendance from several notable figures including MN State Senator Mary Kunesh, MN State Representative Erin Koegel, and former Fridley Mayor Scott Lund. She wrote: "Thank you to everyone who showed up and participated in our first town hall of the year tonight in Fridley!"
