Multigenerational Farm Transition Retreats are now open to Minnesota farmers who are planning for farm transition or succession. These retreats are organized by the Minnesota Department of Agriculture in collaboration with the University of Minnesota Extension and the Southern Agricultural Center for Excellence.

Participants will engage in practical planning and discussions about farm transition, with all generations involved in the farm encouraged to participate. Key topics include family and business goals, job responsibilities, financial needs of farms and families, inheritance considerations, and transfer mechanisms.

The events are free and take place in three locations: Mankato, St. Cloud, and Rochester. Farmers can select the most convenient location. Attendance is required on both days.

- Mankato: February 21 (5 p.m.–8:30 p.m.) & February 22 (8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m.)

- St. Cloud: March 7 (5 p.m.–8:30 p.m.) & March 8 (8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m.)

- Rochester: March 21 (5 p.m.–8:30 p.m.) & March 22 (8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m.)

Registration is online, with event details provided upon confirmation.

Educational materials on farm transition and estate planning can be found on the UMN Extension website. For inquiries, contact Nathan Hulinsky at huli0013@umn.edu or call 218-828-2680.
