Rep. Ilhan Omar, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Minnesota’s 5th district, shared her involvement in various initiatives through a series of tweets. Born in Mogadishu, Somalia, Omar has been an active political figure since she replaced Keith Ellison in 2019.

On January 28, 2025, Rep. Omar expressed her honor at joining Mayor Frey, MplsWard12, and members of the Minneapolis City Council to recognize CM Chowdhury's resolution concerning her Neighbors Not Enemies Act. She emphasized the need to repeal the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 to prevent targeting individuals based on nationality. Later on January 29, 2025, Rep. Omar shared her privilege in presenting a Congressional Record entry to the Hennepin County Board of Commissioners for their work toward achieving functional zero status regarding veteran homelessness in the county. She extended gratitude towards those involved for their contributions to this effort. "It’s my privilege to present the Hennepin County Board of Commissioners with a Congressional Record entry to recognize their efforts on reaching a functional zero status to veteran homelessness in the county."
