Representative Ilhan Omar, serving Minnesota's 5th district in the U.S. Congress since 2019, has expressed her views on various political issues through a series of tweets. Born in Mogadishu, Somalia, Omar has been an active voice in Congress and previously served in the Minnesota House of Representatives.

On January 21, 2025, Rep. Omar addressed the impact of the Citizens United ruling on American society. She stated that "15 years of Citizens United has shown us what happens when billionaires and corporations run the show: Climate inaction High healthcare costs Tax breaks for the wealthy A system rigged against everyday Americans Overturning Citizens United is the first step to building a more…"

Later that day, she criticized former President Donald Trump's actions regarding drug pricing programs. In her tweet at 21:00 UTC, she remarked that "Trump rescinded Biden's drug pricing programs on Medicare and Medicaid, putting over 120 MILLION Americans at risk of paying outrageous prices for their medications. It's shameful that one of his first acts is to make healthcare unaffordable for millions."

Continuing her critique of Trump's presidency, Omar tweeted at 23:00 UTC about his executive orders. She stated that "Instead of tackling rising costs, Trump's first act as president was signing 200+ executive orders. His priorities? Rolling back Constitutional rights and environmental protections while doing nothing to lower grocery bills, gas prices, or prescription drug costs."
