Natalie Zeleznikar, a member of the Minnesota House of Representatives, has used her social media platform to comment on recent state policies and political messaging. In a series of posts dated August 25 and 26, 2025, Zeleznikar raised concerns about Governor Tim Walz’s rhetoric and the impact of recent legislative mandates on property taxes in Minnesota.

On August 25, Zeleznikar referenced a previous statement by Governor Tim Walz, writing: "Hmm. Seems @GovTimWalz forgot about his joyful message to be “meaner”on May 31, 2025. Apparently, this is a message of unity for a “ One Minnesota”. Pot meet Kettle!" She linked to an earlier post from the governor to highlight what she characterized as inconsistency in calls for unity.

Shortly after midnight on August 26, Zeleznikar posted: "Can’t make this up! #mnleg https://t.co/4b8aieIT5P", referencing ongoing legislative developments.

Later that day, she addressed concerns about the financial implications of new state mandates: "With all the new Democrat mandates from laws enacted in 23-24 and more starting Jan 2026 for cities, schools, and counties…. Many predict double digit property taxes. Stabilizing home ownership requires lowering property taxes not raising them. We can and must do better! https://t.co/nixOku55AP"

Zeleznikar's remarks come amid ongoing debate over tax policy in Minnesota. State lawmakers have recently passed several measures affecting local governments and education funding. These changes are expected to take effect beginning January 2026 and have prompted discussions about their potential impact on property tax rates statewide.

The issue of rising property taxes has been a point of contention in Minnesota politics, with critics arguing that additional mandates could strain homeowners while supporters contend they are necessary for public services.
