The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) has launched a new advertising campaign in Minnesota’s 6th District to thank Representative Tom Emmer for his efforts to make the 20% Small Business Tax Deduction permanent. The campaign, which includes both radio and digital ads, is part of NFIB's ongoing advocacy work supporting this tax deduction for small business owners.
The advertisements recognize Rep. Emmer for voting in favor of making the deduction permanent and preventing what NFIB describes as a significant tax increase on small businesses. The ads can be accessed online.
Jon Boesche, NFIB Minnesota State Director, stated: “Making the 20% Small Business Tax Deduction permanent is a big win for Main Street. By voting to protect this tax relief, Rep. Tom Emmer has given small business owners in Minnesota the certainty they need to grow their operations, continue creating jobs, and give back to their communities. NFIB appreciates his leadership in standing up for small businesses in our state.”
The deduction was initially introduced through the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. It allows qualifying small business owners to deduct up to 20% of their business income, which aims to reduce disparities between smaller firms and larger corporations.
