Ruck’s Meat Processing, located in Belle Plaine, Minnesota, has initiated a voluntary recall of certain ready-to-eat sausage products due to potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. The contamination was identified during routine sampling conducted by inspection personnel from the Minnesota Department of Agriculture (MDA).

The company and the MDA have reported that there have been no known adverse reactions or illnesses associated with the consumption of these products at this time.

The affected sausage products from Ruck’s Meat Processing can be identified by the establishment number “8921” inside the State of Minnesota mark of inspection. They also feature a packed-on date of “6-25-25” on their labels. Additionally, Ruck’s Meat Processing produced some sausage products under the Tollefson Family Pork brand, which share the same mark of inspection and packed-on date.

Tollefson Family Pork products included in this recall were distributed at various farmers’ markets and wholesale events. These products are listed as Homestyle Wieners, Smoked Polish Sausage with Cheddar Cheese, and No Sugar Added Homestyle Wieners.

Sausage products sold directly at Ruck’s Meat Processing retail location in Belle Plaine are also part of this recall. These include Cheese Polish Sausage.

Listeria monocytogenes is a bacterium that can lead to listeriosis, an uncommon but potentially serious disease. Symptoms may include fever, severe headache, neck stiffness, and nausea. While healthy individuals are rarely affected by listeriosis, it can result in severe or even fatal infections in infants, elderly individuals, and those with weakened immune systems. Pregnant women are particularly vulnerable as listeriosis can cause miscarriages and stillbirths.

Consumers who suspect they might have purchased these recalled items are advised to dispose of them or return them to the place of purchase. Those concerned about potential illness should seek medical advice from healthcare providers.

For further inquiries regarding this recall, consumers can reach out to Ruck’s Meat Processing directly at 952-873-2848.
