On October 15, the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) hosted a virtual event focused on Minnesota’s upcoming Paid Family Medical Leave program. The new policy, which is set to start on January 1, 2026, will provide up to 20 weeks of paid leave for eligible employees in the state.

During the session, Jon Boesche, NFIB Minnesota State Director, and Martin Kappenman, an employment and labor attorney at Peters and Kappenman as well as an NFIB member, discussed key points that small business owners should be aware of ahead of the program’s launch.

Business owners who have questions about the Paid Family Medical Leave program or its impact can reach out to Grassroots Manager Ben Abrahamson by phone or email.

A recording of the webinar is available for those who were unable to attend live.
