On September 2, 2025, Omar posted a message marking the beginning of the academic year: "Happy first day of school to students and teachers across Minnesota's Fifth District!"
The following day, she addressed a tragic incident affecting her community. On September 3, 2025, Omar wrote: "Today, I led a moment of silence on the House floor to mourn the two beautiful children taken too soon and the 21 others who are now on the road to recovery. The Annunciation community has shown incredible strength and we will continue to stand with them as they heal."
Later that same day, Omar commented on labor issues impacting veterans’ services: "The Trump Admin terminated VA union contracts, leaving workers – and the veterans who rely on them – vulnerable. Omar has served in Congress since replacing Keith Ellison in 2019. She previously held office in the Minnesota House of Representatives from 2017 to 2019. Born in Mogadishu, Somalia in 1982, Omar is currently based in Minneapolis and holds a BA from North Dakota State University.
