Join the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) Minnesota for a free webinar on Tuesday, August 5th at Noon Central. The event will focus on the new Minnesota Independent Contractor laws passed in 2024 and their implications for businesses.
NFIB State Director Jon Boesche and Martin Kappenman, a labor and employment attorney from Peters and Kappenman and an NFIB member, will provide an overview of these laws. They will also address any questions participants may have.
The new laws have raised several concerns, including expanded liabilities for employers using independent contractors across all industries. There are also increased penalties exceeding $10,000 per individual violation for misclassifying workers as independent contractors. Additionally, the construction industry will see an overhaul of the independent contractor test, moving from a 9-Factor Test to a more complex 14-Factor Test.
