Rep. Ilhan Omar, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Minnesota’s 5th district, has been vocal on social media about various issues. Her recent tweets address topics ranging from LGBTQ+ rights to police accountability and local enforcement actions.

On June 2, 2025, Rep. Omar marked the beginning of Pride Month with a message of solidarity for the LGBTQ+ community. She stated "Happy Pride Month! The following day, June 3, she addressed concerns over police conduct by announcing legislative efforts aimed at reforming policing practices. In her tweet, she expressed that "Police brutality and misuse of force continue to be a threat to public safety." She further elaborated on her initiative by stating that she had reintroduced a package of bills designed to hold officers accountable for misuse of force and protect protesters.

Later on June 3, Rep. Omar reported an incident involving multiple federal agencies in Minneapolis. She informed her followers that "We received reports of an enforcement action with multiple federal agencies on Lake Street in Minneapolis." She assured constituents that her office was actively engaging with both federal and local officials regarding the situation.

Rep. Ilhan Omar has served in Congress since 2019 after replacing Keith Ellison. Born in Mogadishu, Somalia in 1982, she resides in Minneapolis and holds a BA from North Dakota State University.
