The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) will implement changes to load restrictions starting March 3. Winter load increases in the Central frost zone will end, while spring load restrictions will begin in the South, Southeast, and Metro frost zones.

In the South, Southeast, and Metro zones, winter load increases concluded on February 28. Information regarding seasonal load limit zones and restricted routes is available on the MnDOT load limits map. Further details about start and end dates and other load limit information can be found at mndot.gov/loadlimits.

Overweight permits for vehicles exceeding 80,000 pounds gross vehicle weight will continue to be issued provided all axle and group weights comply with legal limits. MnDOT offers updates on start and end dates through its 24-hour automated message center at 1-800-723-6543 for calls from the U.S. and Canada, or locally at 651-366-5400 for the Minneapolis/St. Paul area.

For inquiries concerning legal axle weight during spring load restrictions or Gross Vehicle Weight Schedule, contact the Minnesota Department of Public Safety's State Patrol – Commercial Vehicle Enforcement at 651-350-2000.

Questions regarding oversize/overweight loads or permitting should be directed to MnDOT's Freight and Commercial Vehicle Operations – Oversize/Overweight Permits division at 651-296-6000 or via email at ofcvopermits.dot@state.mn.us.

All changes are communicated with a minimum notice period of three calendar days.
