[ST. PAUL, MN] – Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan met with global ambassadors in Washington, D.C. to continue to promote Bloomington, Minnesota as the 2027 World Expo host city.

“Minnesota has a long history of investing in health and wellness, the theme of the 2027 World Expo, and I am thrilled by the opportunity to host this event,”said Lieutenant Governor Flanagan. “This event and our continued investments aimed at making Minnesota the best place to raise a family make Minnesota an ideal candidate to promote the future of well-being and showcase to the world the historic progress we have made.”

In October , Governor Walz joined an international delegation from the BIE and local Expo leaders to discuss the United States’ bid to host the 2027 World Expo in Minnesota. The 2027 World Expo, themed “Healthy People, Healthy Planet,” will highlight health and wellness and attract 1 billion global viewers and a $2.5 billion economic impact.

The core Expo 2027 site is found in the “Expo Village” location within the City of Bloomington’s South Loop development district. The land on the site of Expo 2027 is owned by the Mall of America, the City of Bloomington, and the Bloomington Port Authority. The Expo 2027 site will be a new development creation that links to existing structures at the Mall of America and surrounding area. There are buildings in the development process that will also be utilized for the exposition.
