On April 11, 2025, Rep. Omar reported meeting with Carpenters Local for Building Trades Day on Capitol Hill. During this meeting, they discussed the challenges that tradespeople are currently facing, emphasizing the importance of strong labor standards.

On the same day, Rep. Omar engaged in a discussion with Lester Bagley and Ronika Carter from the Vikings. The conversation centered around the future of the team and broader issues that impact professional sports.

Rep. Omar also honored her constituent, Amy Cooper, who was recognized with the Minnesota Wilma Rudolph Courage Award. The award celebrates her contributions towards expanding opportunities for girls and women in sports.

Rep. Ilhan Omar has been serving since 2019, succeeding Keith Ellison. She has lived in Minneapolis since arriving from Mogadishu, Somalia. Omar holds a BA from North Dakota State University.
