City of Aitkin issued the following announcement on Dec. 27.
Good Morning Aitkin! Our crews are doing everything they can to make our skating rink and hockey rink amazing for all of us to use. Last night night we had someone drive on the skating rink near the park causing major ruts.
The rink had just been flooded so it was nice and smooth ready for this upcoming holiday weekend which now our crews are trying to fix!
The rink is not for driving on or tearing up! It's for skating!
If you see someone driving on the rink please call immediately! 218-927-7400 is the Aitkin County Sheriff's Office non-emergency dispatch number which is answered 24/7. We want to keep this family friendly rink open as much as possible for all to use!
