The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) recently began issuing payments to student workers who qualify for the Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) Program.
The DEED had previously been holding off on the payments as it waited for clarification in a related court order, according to a DEED press release. Eligibility will still be determined on a case-by-case basis.
“We are moving as quickly as possible to issue those retroactive PUA payments and encourage any high school student whose job has been impacted by COVID-19 to apply at www.uimn.org, immediately,” Steve Grove, DEED commissioner, said in the release.
Those who have already applied for PUA payments do not need to reapply, according to the release. The DEED will go ahead and review previously-submitted applications and determine eligibility.
If additional information is needed by the DEED to determine eligibility, the agency will reach out to individual applicants to request it, according to the release.
