DAKOTA COUNTY REGIONAL CHAMBER OF COMMERCE: Eagan Mayor Mike Maguire delivers postponed State of the City, virtually

Postponed

Dakota County Regional Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on July 23

Today, the City of Eagan launched Mayor Mike Maguire’s 2019 State of the City, virtually. Due to COVID-19 the City postponed the event which was scheduled for March 19, 2020 at the Eagan Community Center. After postponing just days prior, the City’s goal and hope was that the community might still be able to gather at some point this summer. Unfortunately, that still is not possible, so this year it is being delivered in a digital format.

Through videos, data, photos, and examples Mayor Maguire illustrates how Eagan’s stability and consistency promoted growth and change in 2019.

The Mayor begins the speech with a prologue in which he shares that some points in the speech may not be as relevant now, the videos were filmed prior to social distancing, and the address was written and filmed in a different world, prior to COVID-19 and the death of George Floyd.

The mayor shares that, “the point of still doing the State of the City, as it was written is to celebrate all that we accomplished, as residents, businesses and as a City. It is also to share our mission, vision and values as a community and city - COVID-19 hasn’t changed those.”
