Sen. Michelle Benson (R-Ham Lake) is glad that Gov. Tim Walz has signed an order to resume elective surgeries in Minnesota.
”The governor’s order offers a ray of light to the people who have been waiting for necessary medical care,” Benson said in a statement on Minnesota Senate Republican Caucus website. ”I am pleased that Minnesotans can finally look forward to getting their physical pain and worry relieved, and healthcare professionals can return to their vocations.”
The executive order enables doctors, dentists and veterinarians to conduct elective surgeries and procedures if they implement certain measures that would ensure the safety of patients and healthcare professionals. Hospitals, clinics and ambulatory surgical centers must submit a safely plan to the Minnesota Department of Health prior to restarting elective care.
A ban was previously placed on non-essential and elective surgeries and procedures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and preserve medical resources.
