Rep. Ilhan Omar, who represents Minnesota’s 5th district in the U.S. Congress, shared a summary of her activities for the week of July 28 to August 1, 2025, through a series of posts on her official Twitter account.
On August 1, Omar highlighted her participation in local cultural events and community engagement efforts. She wrote, "It’s been great to be back home – here’s a recap of our week (July 28 - Aug 1):
I was honored to record the announcements for the 2025 @MNFringe festival. The performing arts festival runs until August 10th and is definitely worth checking out!" (posted August 1, 2025).
In another post from the same day, she recognized an educational milestone in South Minneapolis: "Presented Washburn High School with a Congressional Record entry ahead of its 100th anniversary to recognize Washburn’s century of service to South Minneapolis’s community." (posted August 1, 2025).
Omar also addressed civic engagement at a local event: "Hosted my July Town Hall in Richfield to lead with cogovernance and take Minnesota’s top priorities back to the People’s House with me. Thank you to all the Minnesotans who showed up, and a special thank you to Mayor Mary Supple for joining me to give updates." (posted August 1, 2025).
Rep. Ilhan Omar has served as the U.S. Representative for Minnesota's 5th District since replacing Keith Ellison in 2019 and previously served in the Minnesota House of Representatives from 2017 to 2019. Born in Mogadishu, Somalia in 1982 and currently residing in Minneapolis, Omar graduated from North Dakota State University with a bachelor's degree in 2011.
