On July 11, Omar reflected on her visit to the American Swedish Institute for Salad Hilowle’s exhibit. Ilhan Omar replaced Keith Ellison as representative for Minnesota’s 5th District in 2019 after serving in the Minnesota House of Representatives from 2017 to 2019. Born in Mogadishu, Somalia in 1982, she currently resides in Minneapolis and holds a BA from North Dakota State University.
