Rep. Ilhan Omar, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Minnesota’s 5th district, has recently shared a series of tweets addressing concerns related to educational institutions and student loan forgiveness.

In a subsequent tweet on June 5, 2025, she raised questions regarding Secretary McMahon's decision to rescind a $37 million fine against Grand Canyon University. Rep. Omar expressed concern that Secretary McMahon "couldn’t explain why the fine was pulled or if the agency would do right by defrauded borrowers," emphasizing that "students deserve answers." The post can be viewed here.
Later that day, Rep. Omar highlighted an issue affecting nearly 1.4 million borrowers from fraudulent universities who have been approved for loan forgiveness but are still awaiting action from the Department of Education. She noted with disappointment that "Secretary McMahon couldn’t clearly say whether these defrauded borrowers will" receive their due relief as expected. This tweet is available here.
