Pete Stauber, a representative from Minnesota, said that the recent decline in inflation signifies a shift towards greater affordability and serves as evidence of the success of Donald Trump’s economic strategies. This statement was made on the social media platform X.

"Inflation just hit its lowest point since 2021," said Stauber. "This means more money in your wallet. President Trump's economic strategy is working. Life is becoming more affordable."

In April 2025, U.S. inflation fell to an annual rate of 2.3%, reaching its lowest point since February 2021, despite new tariffs implemented under policies aligned with Trump. According to the New York Post, core inflation remained at 2.8%, while the Federal Reserve maintained interest rates between 4.25% and 4.5% due to concerns about potential stagflation. Economists warn that although current data appears favorable, the full effects of recent trade policies may become apparent in the coming months.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the U.S. Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased by 2.3% year-over-year in April 2025, down from 2.4% in March and marking the smallest rise since February 2021. Core CPI, which excludes food and energy prices, rose by 2.8%. These figures indicate that inflation is continuing to moderate, aligning more closely with the Federal Reserve’s target.

Economists had anticipated a monthly increase of 0.3% in the CPI for April 2025; however, actual inflation rose by only 0.2%. As reported by CBS News, this lower-than-expected figure suggests that price pressures may be easing more rapidly than predicted. Analysts caution that recent tariffs could lead to future increases not yet evident in current data.

Stauber has served as a Republican representative for Minnesota’s 8th district since 2019 and is a member of several House Committees including Transportation and Infrastructure, Small Business, and Natural Resources. According to his official House biography, Stauber chairs the Subcommittee on Energy and Mineral Resources and advocates for policies supporting domestic energy production and resource independence. His economic stance emphasizes deregulation and job creation within industrial sectors.
