On May 6th, Republican Keri Heintzeman was sworn into the Minnesota Senate. With her induction, the Legislature now operates at full capacity with a Democratic-Farmer-Labor (DFL) majority of 34-33.

Heintzeman secured her position by winning a special election against DFL candidate Denise Slipy, obtaining 60.3% of the vote. She will represent Senate District 6, which covers parts of Crow Wing, Cass, and Itasca counties.

The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) Minnesota supported Heintzeman in the SD 6 Special Election and anticipates collaborating with her on matters affecting small businesses in Minnesota.
