Representative Ilhan Omar, a current member of the U.S. Congress representing Minnesota’s 5th district, addressed several pressing issues related to the Trump Administration in a series of tweets. The tweets, issued from May 2, 2025, reflect Omar’s ongoing legislative activities and her position on various political matters.
In her first tweet on May 2, 2025, Rep. Omar reflected on what she termed as “Trump’s chaotic 100 days in office.” She explained the focused efforts in speaking out against the Trump Administration’s actions, aiming to destabilize current processes. To emphasize her commitments, she stated, “It’s been another busy week in Washington - this week’s focus: Trump’s chaotic 100 days in office and what we’re doing to fight back. Here’s what I’ve been up to (4/28-5/2) I joined @usprogressives in speaking out against the Trump Administration’s actions to destabilize”.
On the same day, Rep. Omar addressed educational issues facing low-income Minnesotans. She criticized Republican efforts she believes create barriers to accessing higher education. Highlighting her actions, she noted, “Republicans are working to build barriers that hinder low-income Minnesotans’ ability to access higher-education. We’re pushing back. I introduced 5 amendments during Tuesday’s @EdWorkforceDems markup to protect Pell Grants for part-time students and ensure student loan”.
Again on May 2, 2025, Rep. Omar, alongside Rep. Mark Takano, challenged former President Donald Trump on constitutional grounds. They criticized Trump’s denial of due process rights in deportations and non-compliance with Supreme Court decisions. Rep. Omar expressed her determination by saying, “.@RepMarkTakano and I called out Donald Trump’s blatant disregard of our Constitution as he continues to deny folks the right to due process before deportation & defy the decisions of our Supreme Court. We will not stand by and let this Administration undermine the very”.
Ilhan Omar has served the U.S. Congress since 2019, representing Minnesota’s 5th District after replacing former Congress member Keith Ellison.
