Highway 14, located west of Eyota, Minnesota, will undergo a temporary closure from February 17 to February 21 for railroad bridge repairs. The Minnesota Department of Transportation announced that during this period, traffic will be redirected as crews work on the bridge spanning the highway.
The repair project is being conducted by a contractor for the Canadian Pacific and Kansas City Southern Railway. The affected section is approximately two miles west of Eyota. As a result, Highway 14 will be inaccessible to through traffic. A detour has been arranged north via Highway 42, then west on Olmsted County Road 9, and south on Olmsted County Road 11 (50th Avenue Southeast) leading back to Highway 14 east of Rochester. However, local residents and businesses can still access their properties and Chester Woods Park using Highway 14 up to the bridge closure point.
The planned schedule sees the highway closing at 9 a.m. on Monday, February 17, with reopening set for 4 p.m. on Friday, February 21. This timeline may shift if weather conditions cause delays; any changes would be communicated promptly. Advanced warning signs have been placed along Highway 14 to inform motorists about the upcoming work.
