The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) is organizing a public meeting to discuss five alternative designs for the Highway 371 and Highway 210 intersection improvement project in Baxter. The meetings are scheduled for February 12, 2025, at the MnDOT office located at 7694 Industrial Park Rd S, Baxter. They will take place from 1-2:30 p.m. and again from 4-6 p.m.
These open house-style meetings do not include a formal presentation, allowing attendees to visit at their convenience. The same information will be available during both sessions.
A video detailing the project's background and the proposed designs has been made available online by MnDOT. Additionally, an online survey is open until February 21 for public feedback on these alternatives. Both resources can be accessed via the project webpage: talk.dot.state.mn.us/hwy-371-and-210-baxter-intersection-improvement-project.
The project aims to identify and prioritize a preliminary design by considering various factors such as demographics, land use, development needs, transportation requirements, and safety data. Planning and design efforts are projected to continue through 2027 with construction expected to start in 2028. The completed project seeks to enhance access, safety, and traffic flow in the Brainerd Lakes area.
MnDOT emphasizes inclusive participation in its programs and services. Those requiring accommodations such as ASL or foreign language interpreters or documents in alternative formats can contact Janet Miller via email at ADArequest.dot@state.mn.us or call 651-366-4720.
