In Congress, Rep. Craig has led efforts to expand workforce training opportunities and invest in career and technical education
WASHINGTON, DC – Today, U.S. Representative Angie Craig announced that a bachelor’s degree will not be a requirement for any job within her Washington, DC or Burnsville offices.
Job candidates will be evaluated based on their relevant work experience and training – regardless of whether or not they have earned a bachelor’s degree.
“Nobody’s career trajectory should be predetermined by a piece of paper – it should be determined by their work ethic, experience and ability to do the job in front of them. I’m proud to announce a bachelor’s degree is not required for employment in my congressional office – and I encourage other offices to follow suit,” said Rep. Craig.
Rep. Craig has long advocated for expanding educational opportunities beyond traditional four-year colleges and universities and has led the push for federal investments in career and technical education (CTE) and workforce training.
Most recently, she worked to secure $1.5 million to help construct the Shakopee Regional Innovation Hub to provide a wide variety of critical job training programs, post-secondary educational opportunities and entrepreneurial programs to the South Metro Area.
Additionally, Rep. Craig has introduced legislation to expand and support enrollment in apprenticeship programs across the United States.
