Minneapolis recognizes Human Rights Day and International Migrants Day | City of Minneapolis
The Minneapolis City Council has passed a resolution recognizing Dec. 10 as Human Rights Day and Dec. 18 as International Migrants Day.
Human Rights Day celebrates the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which states that “all human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights.” International Migrants Day recognizes the International Convention on the Rights of Migrants and their Families, and offers an opportunity to learn more about the dynamics of migration.
Watch the presentation of the resolution on the City’s YouTube channel (presentation begins at the eight minute mark).
Human Rights Day and International Migrants Day were also highlighted at the December Twin Cities Immigration Forum, a monthly virtual forum focused on immigrant and refugee related topics.
