The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) announced that winter load increases in the Metro, South, and Southeast frost zones will conclude at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, February 28. Information regarding seasonal load limit zones and restricted routes is available on the MnDOT load limits map.

For those seeking details about start and end dates, as well as other load limit information, MnDOT directs individuals to visit mndot.gov/loadlimits. The department will continue issuing overweight permits for vehicles exceeding an 80,000-pound gross vehicle weight, provided all axle and group weights comply with legal limits.

MnDOT offers updates on start and end dates through its 24-hour automated message center at 1-800-723-6543 for both the U.S. and Canada. Local residents in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area can call 651-366-5400 for information.

Questions regarding legal axle weight during Seasonal Load Restrictions (SLR) or Gross Vehicle Weight Schedule should be directed to the Minnesota Department of Public Safety’s State Patrol – Commercial Vehicle Enforcement at 651-350-2000.

Inquiries about oversize/overweight loads or permitting can be addressed by contacting MnDOT’s Freight and Commercial Vehicle Operations – Oversize/Overweight Permits division at 651-296-6000 or via email at ofcvopermits.dot@state.mn.us.

MnDOT assures that all changes are communicated with a minimum three-day notice period. For current road conditions, individuals are encouraged to call 511 or visit www.511mn.org.
