The City of Winona Water Department announced on April 27 that it will begin its annual hydrant flushing starting May 4 and continuing through the end of the month. Residents are advised that they may notice lower water pressure and some discoloration in their water during this period.

Hydrant flushing is a routine part of maintaining the city’s water distribution system. The process helps ensure water quality and system reliability for all users.

According to the announcement, any decrease in pressure or discoloration should be temporary. The department advises residents who experience discolored water to run a cold tap until the water clears.

“We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but it is an important part of our water distribution system maintenance,” said city officials in the statement.

This scheduled maintenance is expected to conclude by the end of May, with normal service resuming shortly after.
