The Washington County Board of Commissioners announced on April 21 several decisions during its meeting at the Government Center in Stillwater, Minnesota.

The actions include the appointment of Peter Koerner as District 4 Representative to the Community Corrections Advisory Board. Koerner previously served as the Law Enforcement Representative on the board. His new term will begin on April 22 and run through December 31, 2027.

The board also approved a Joint Powers Agreement for election services with Oak Park Heights. This agreement will start with the Statewide Primary and General Election in 2026. Washington County currently has similar agreements with fourteen other cities, and fees for these services are reviewed annually according to the county’s fee schedule.

In recognition of public service, commissioners proclaimed May 3-9 as National Correctional Officers Week in Washington County. The resolution honors correctional officers working in the Sheriff’s Office Jail Division for their professionalism, integrity, and resilience while serving in challenging conditions. The board expressed gratitude for their continued commitment to public safety.

Additionally, commissioners accepted $2,754.36 in donations and gifts received during the first quarter of this year. Donations included $1,696.02 to the Library Department; $513.34 to Public Works Parks Division supporting parks funds; $525 to support the Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit; and an additional $20 received by the Sheriff’s Office as an in-kind donation.

These actions reflect ongoing efforts by county officials to recognize community contributions and ensure effective local governance.
