Two St. Thomas women’s golf athletes have received end-of-year recognition from the Summit League, according to an April 24 announcement by the league office. Junior Kathryn VanArragon was named to the All-Summit League First Team, marking her third career all-league selection, while freshman Genevieve Birkeland earned a spot on the All-Freshman Team.
The honors highlight strong individual performances during the season. VanArragon led St. Thomas with a scoring average of 74.0 over 22 rounds in regular season play, which tied for second lowest in the conference. She achieved six rounds at or below par and finished in the top five at the Diane Thomason Invitational. Her best round came at the Coach Mo Classic, where she shot a team-low score of 69 before heading into conference championships. VanArragon is currently ranked No. 495 nationally by Scoreboard by Clippd.
Birkeland recorded a scoring average of 77.58 across her first collegiate season and played two rounds at or below par over 24 rounds total. She is ranked No. 1,161 nationally and stands among the top five freshmen golfers in the Summit League.
St. Thomas will compete next at the Summit League Championship scheduled for April 26-28 at Longbow Golf Club in Mesa, Arizona.
Recent results show improvement for St. Thomas women’s golf in league championship standings: they finished ninth out of nine teams in their first year (2021-22), tied for seventh out of nine teams (2022-23), tied for third out of nine teams (2023-24), and fifth out of eight teams last year (2024-25). Individual top finishes included Isabelle Lynch’s second place last year with scores of 76, 71, and 67.
In national rankings among Summit League teams this season, Denver holds position No.120 followed by North Dakota State (139), Oral Roberts (142), South Dakota State (161), South Dakota (173), St. Thomas (179), Omaha (182) and North Dakota (231).
The upcoming championship offers another opportunity for St. Thomas golfers to continue their progress against conference rivals.
