The St. Thomas Tommies are set to continue their road trip with a three-game conference series against the Omaha Mavericks, beginning Friday, April 24. The games will take place over the weekend, with first pitches scheduled for 6 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday, and at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
This series is important as Omaha currently holds second place in the Summit League with an 8-6 conference record and a 13-19 overall standing. Fans can follow live stats and radio coverage through links provided at tommiesports.com or via the team’s Twitter and Instagram accounts.
Earlier this week, St. Thomas lost two midweek games—falling narrowly to Milwaukee Panthers by a score of 9-8 before being defeated by Northwestern Wildcats, 15-5. Historically, St. Thomas has a slight edge over Omaha with a record of 14 wins to Omaha’s ten; however, in their most recent home series against the Mavericks, the Tommies lost two out of three games.
Omaha’s offense is led by Jackson Trout who boasts a .379 batting average this season. On the pitching side, Maverick staff have compiled a team earned run average (ERA) of 6.17 and hold opponents to a .293 batting average.
A notable highlight from St. Thomas’s recent schedule was their marathon game against Northern Colorado that stretched across two days and lasted for twenty-one innings before ending on a walk-off hit in the bottom of the final inning.
Individually, junior Owen Bond leads all Summit League players with four triples and ranks third in batting average at .353 while holding an impressive .472 on-base percentage. Tanner Recchio tops league statistics in stolen bases (26) as well as walks (23), while teammate Adam Puder follows closely behind in steals (12).
Head Coach Chris Olean enters his seventeenth season leading Tommie baseball in 2026 with an overall coaching record of 414-256-1 since taking over prior to the 2010 season.
