Omar hosted a member-level US-Africa Policy Working Group briefing to address "the devastating human impacts of Trump and DOGE’s dismantling of USAID and cuts to humanitarian and development assistance." The briefing aimed to inform members about the real-world consequences of these policy changes.

Rep. Ilhan Omar was born in Mogadishu, Somalia in 1982 and currently resides in Minneapolis. She graduated from North Dakota State University in 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
