Representative Ilhan Omar discusses local initiatives, town halls and festive greetings

Representative Ilhan Omar, serving Minnesota's 5th district in the U.S. Congress since 2019, has been actively engaging with her constituents through various initiatives and public communications. Recently, she shared several updates and announcements pertinent to her community through her social media channels.

On April 17, 2025, Rep. Omar invited students from Minnesota's 5th district to participate in the Congressional App Challenge. She encouraged both experienced coders and those new to the field to "develop your own app and show off your skills". Participants can register and find more information via the provided link.

Continuing her outreach, Rep. Omar announced on April 20, 2025, that she will host a town hall meeting with 12 state legislators. Scheduled for Monday at 7 p.m. in North Minneapolis, the event provides an opportunity for constituents to interact with their representatives. She invited the public to register via the link she shared, expressing "Hope to see you there!".

On the same day, April 20, Rep. Omar also extended her festive greetings, wishing everyone a "Happy Easter to all those celebrating", expressing her hopes for a joyful and peaceful day for all families involved.

Ilhan Omar, a distinguished graduate of North Dakota State University, has been representing Minnesota's 5th District since succeeding Keith Ellison in 2019. Before her role in the U.S. Congress, she served in the Minnesota House of Representatives from 2017 to 2019. Born in Mogadishu, Somalia, in 1982, she settled in Minneapolis, contributing significantly to the community's political landscape.
