Rep. Ilhan Omar engages with Minnesota communities discussing future visions and policy challenges

Rep. Ilhan Omar, a U.S. Congress member representing Minnesota's 5th district, recently shared insights from her engagements with constituents via social media. Omar, who has been serving in Congress since 2019 after replacing Keith Ellison, continues to actively engage with various community groups.

On March 17, 2025, Rep. Omar expressed her enthusiasm after meeting students from Cooper High School. She noted the students' aspirations and optimism for the future: "It was incredible to meet with students from Cooper High School to hear about their vision for the future and to answer their questions. Can’t wait to see all the great things they will accomplish in their very bright futures!"

On March 18, 2025, she visited senior residents at Walker Place in Minneapolis. During this visit, discussions centered around combating policies of the Trump Administration that affect affordable healthcare and Social Security benefits: "I had a great visit with senior residents at Walker Place in Minneapolis! We discussed ways we can fight back against the Trump Administration’s attacks on affordable healthcare and Social Security benefits."

Later that day, Rep. Omar met with Brooklyn Center Mayor April Graves to discuss city priorities and community support strategies: "Great to start my morning with Brooklyn Center Mayor April Graves to get an update on the city’s priorities and discuss how we can best support our community."
