Anderson Funeral Home And Crematory issued the following announcement on Sept. 01.
Have you ever encountered a funeral procession while driving? What's the right way of handling the situation? Do you need to pull over?
While the laws vary from state to state, you should always pull over for a funeral procession out of politeness to the grieving family.
Some other good rules to keep in mind out of respect for the deceased and the family:
* Don't cut into a procession or cut them off
* Don't honk at the vehicles in the procession
* Yield the right of way until the entire procession is through the intersection
* On the highway, don't pass the procession on the right
In general, be patient and considerate, and remind yourself that the folks in the procession are likely going going through a very difficult time.
