City of Menahga issued the following announcement on June 5.
It’s a sad day to announce that we are canceling Menahga’s Midsummer Celebration. We all knew it was a possibility and now the County confirmed that we wouldn’t move thru the reopening phases by [July] Midsummer to have a large gathering.
The Menahga C&C coordinates many of the events during our annual Midsummer Celebration in July. The C&C will not be organizing the events we normally do, including the pageant, parade, fireworks, water ski show, craft show, or raffle. Many other organizations, groups, and individuals also participate and plan their own events during this time.
I asked if we could put together a celebration for the community in the fall. So, there is a possibility of having a celebration in the fall, but we'll have to wait and see.
When we can gather in a larger group than 10, the C&C will have a membership meeting.
