St. Thomas women’s golf finishes sixth at Summit League Championship

St. Thomas women’s golf finished in sixth place at the Summit League Championship, held at Longbow Golf Club in Mesa, Arizona, on April 28. The team posted a final round score of 15-over-par.

The tournament saw Emma Davies and Karen Lind Stefansdottir lead the Tommies by tying for 11th place individually. Davies recorded one of her best rounds with a score of 72 (+1), starting with an eagle and ending with a birdie to move into the top eleven. This performance marked her second time leading St. Thomas at the Summit League Championship.

Stefansdottir also delivered a strong finish, posting a final round of 74 (+3) to tie for eleventh alongside Davies. All-Freshman honoree Genevieve Birkeland achieved her best round of the tournament with a score of 75 (+4), playing bogey-free through seventeen holes before finishing in twenty-ninth place.

Other contributors included Amelia Morton, who moved up to thirty-third overall after carding her best round of the week (78, +7), and Kathryn VanArragon, who finished twenty-third after shooting a final-round 79 (+8). As a team, St. Thomas recorded scores of 312-298-299 for an overall total of +57.

South Dakota surpassed St. Thomas in the standings during the final round by recording one of the lowest team scores in the tournament (291, +7). The results reflect improvement among several players over each successive round.

The Tommies’ season concluded with notable performances from both experienced seniors and freshmen athletes.
