St. Thomas overcame an early seven-run deficit to defeat the Omaha Mavericks 18-12, according to an April 26 announcement from the team.
The game saw St. Thomas trailing 7-0 after two innings, but a strong offensive performance in the fifth and ninth innings led them to victory. The win was highlighted by Easton Fritcher’s three-run home run in the ninth inning, which gave the Tommies their late lead.
The Tommies recorded a total of 23 hits during the game. After falling behind early, they scored two runs in the fourth inning and then rallied with seven runs in the fifth to take a brief lead at 9-8. Omaha responded by regaining an 11-9 advantage before St. Thomas surged ahead again with nine runs in the ninth inning.
Fritcher’s home run capped off a ten-hit ninth inning for St. Thomas, helping secure their win despite a late solo home run from Omaha that brought the final score to 18-12.
Looking ahead, St. Thomas will return to Minnesota for a midweek matchup against the Gophers on Tuesday, April 28.
