St. Thomas Tommies lose 18-14 to Oral Roberts in high scoring game

The St. Thomas Tommies lost 18-14 to the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles in a high scoring baseball game, according to a May 2 announcement.

The result highlights an offensive battle between the two teams, with both sides posting multiple runs across several innings.

Oral Roberts began the scoring in the second inning by bringing in four runs. St. Thomas responded quickly, as Max Berrisford hit an RBI single and Zan Von Schlegell executed a sacrifice bunt that brought home two more runs for the Tommies. The Golden Eagles extended their lead with a two-run home run in the third, but Matthew Maulik answered with a solo home run for St. Thomas.

Oral Roberts continued their offense with another two-run homer and added three more runs in the fifth inning, making it 11-5. In response, Berrisford hit an RBI double and Nolan Welke followed with an RBI triple for St. Thomas.

Maulik contributed his second home run of the day during the sixth inning after Oral Roberts plated four more runs to reach a score of 15-9. The Tommies attempted a comeback by scoring five times in the seventh inning, including RBIs from Bond and Puder as well as a two-run homer from Tanner Recchio. However, Oral Roberts scored three additional runs in the eighth inning to secure their victory at 18-14.
