St. Thomas lost 7-4 to the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles in the first game of their series, according to a May 1 announcement from the team.

The result marks a setback for St. Thomas as they opened their conference series against Oral Roberts. The Tommies were led offensively by Easton Fritcher and Owen Bond, who each recorded two hits.

Oral Roberts started strong, scoring one run in the top of the first inning and extending their lead with a two-run home run in the second. By the third inning, they had built a 5-0 advantage over St. Thomas.

The Tommies responded in the bottom of the third inning with three runs driven in by Joe Roder and Easton Fritcher, narrowing Oral Roberts’ lead to two runs. In the fourth inning, Tanner Recchio hit a sacrifice fly that allowed Adam Puder to score, bringing St. Thomas within one run at 5-4.

However, Oral Roberts widened their lead again by adding two more runs in the eighth inning for a final score of 7-4.

The teams are scheduled to continue their conference series on May 2 and May 3.
