The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office announced on April 3 that a head-on collision occurred between a county plow truck and a pickup truck in the 4900 block of Fish Lake Road in Fredenberg Township.
The incident is significant due to the severity of injuries sustained and the involvement of multiple emergency response agencies.
According to the sheriff’s office, the crash happened at approximately 7:50 AM. The county plow truck was operated by one driver with no passengers, while the pickup was driven by a 28-year-old male from Fredenberg Township who also had a dog in his vehicle. The man suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported by LifeLink Helicopter for medical care. The dog appeared uninjured and was returned to a family member.
Initial investigation suggests that alcohol use may have contributed to the crash involving the pickup driver. Authorities say both the Minnesota State Patrol and St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office are investigating.
The section of Fish Lake Road where the accident took place is currently closed and is expected to remain so for several hours as responders work at the scene.
Emergency agencies responding included Minnesota State Patrol, Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office, Fredenberg Fire, St. Louis County Rescue Squad, Mayo Ambulance, Gnesen Fire, Grand Lake Fire, and LifeLink.
