Farmers, landowners, and conservation partners will have the opportunity to attend the annual Rosholt Research Farm Field Day on August 21. The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Rosholt Research Farm, located at 910 Old Highway 28 in Westport.
The field day is designed as a hands-on educational event that highlights current research and practical demonstrations aimed at improving soil health and nutrient management. According to organizers, attendees will be able to see ongoing research trials and interact with experts focused on advancing sustainable farming practices in Minnesota.
The program for the day includes several presentations and in-field demonstrations covering topics such as nitrogen use in irrigated corn with cover crops, irrigation and nitrogen management strategies, soil health assessment techniques, erosion control methods, and drone seeding of cover crops.
“There is no cost to attend but registration is required,” according to event organizers. Lunch will be provided for registered participants. Those interested are asked to register by August 13 either by filling out an online form or by calling 320-634-5327. Funding for both the research studies presented at the field day and the activities themselves comes from multiple sources. These include support from the Minnesota Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Fertilizer Research and Education Council, Minnesota Office for Soil Health, USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service, and Minnesota Clean Water Fund.
The event is organized through a partnership between the Minnesota Department of Agriculture and local conservation districts—specifically Pope Soil and Water Conservation District and Stearns Conservation District.
This collaboration aims to bring together those involved in agriculture with conservation professionals so they can share knowledge about sustainable practices that benefit both productivity and environmental stewardship across Minnesota’s agricultural landscape.
