Dear Northlanders,

As summer unfolds with weddings, reunions, and family gatherings, Minnesota State Representative Natalie Zeleznikar shared updates on her recent activities and ongoing projects. Her participation in the Heritage Days parade in Two Harbors marked the beginning of parade season. “It was wonderful to be in the community again,” she remarked.

Rep. Zeleznikar continues to engage with community leaders and constituents on various issues. She is actively working with resources to assist homeowners affected by the Brimson fire and addressing concerns regarding upcoming road construction impacts on small businesses.

Her engagements also included attending local events such as the Local 361 Carpenters annual Summer BBQ and fundraisers for fire departments in Two Harbors and Pequaywan Township. Rep. Zeleznikar emphasized her commitment: “It is an honor to serve the great people of our district.”

In other developments, UCare will cease offering Medicaid and MinnesotaCare coverage in several counties starting September 1, 2025, affecting approximately 88,000 enrollees statewide. The change follows a $504 million operating loss attributed to low reimbursement rates.

Additionally, Rep. Zeleznikar addressed Minnesota’s childcare crisis through House File 2872, advocating for a $250,000 allocation for Northeastern Minnesota. This effort aims to support childcare providers and families across the state.

Rep. Zeleznikar also highlighted concerns over Minnesota’s current transgender athlete policy potentially conflicting with federal guidance under Title IX protections. She introduced House File 1233 during the 2025 session to protect women’s sports but noted that it was blocked by opposing legislators.

The updates reflect ongoing efforts by Rep. Zeleznikar to address local needs while participating actively in legislative actions affecting her district.
