Rep. Ilhan Omar, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Minnesota’s 5th district, shared her experiences and engagements on social media. Her recent posts reflect her activities and interests, showcasing a blend of cultural appreciation and community engagement.

On July 8, 2025, Rep. Omar posted about her visit to an art exhibit at the Minneapolis Institute of Art (MIA). She expressed admiration for the exhibit titled “Giants: Art from the Dean Collection,” which features works by prominent Black artists such as Gordon Parks and Jean-Michel Basquiat.

In another post on July 9, 2025, Rep. Omar highlighted her tour of the MIA’s new exhibit featuring pieces from The Dean Collection curated by Swizz Beatz and Alicia Keys. The exhibit includes artworks by artists like Lorna Simpson and Kehinde Wiley.

Rep. Ilhan Omar has served in Congress since replacing Keith Ellison in 2019. Before that, she was a member of the Minnesota House of Representatives from 2017 to 2019. Born in Mogadishu, Somalia, she graduated from North Dakota State University with a BA in 2011 and resides in Minneapolis.
