Representative Ilhan Omar, currently serving in the U.S. Congress for Minnesota’s 5th district, shared a series of tweets addressing recent events and political concerns. Her posts reflect her ongoing engagement with community matters and national issues.

On February 21, 2025, Rep. Omar expressed her honor in presenting former Fridley Mayor Scott Lund with a Congressional Record for his nearly five decades of service to the Fridley community. She acknowledged his efforts in making Fridley “a safe, vibrant, and welcoming place to live.” “I was honored to present former Fridley Mayor Scott Lund with a Congressional Record in honor of his nearly five decades of service to the Fridley community.”

Later that day, she thanked participants of her February Town Hall held in St. Louis Park. Special acknowledgments were given to Representative Larry Kraft, St. Louis Park Mayor Nadia Mohamed, and City Councilmembers Sue Budd and Paul Baudhuin for their attendance and partnership. “Thank you to everyone who joined us for our February Town Hall in St. Louis Park!”

On February 22, 2025, Rep. Omar criticized plans by former President Trump regarding the USPS. She voiced concern over Trump’s intentions to transfer control of the postal system to Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, which she believes would disrupt its operations. She emphasized the importance of supporting postal workers for all Americans reliant on an efficient mail system. “Trump’s plans to hijack USPS and give control to Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick will throw this public system into chaos.”
