Rep. Ilhan Omar, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Minnesota’s 5th district, has been vocal about several issues on social media. In a series of tweets, she addressed topics ranging from federal workers to tariff policies and government shutdowns.

On March 8, 2025, Rep. Omar shared her conversation with Jen Psaki regarding the significance of federal workers and the potential consequences of mass firings under former President Trump. She stated: “I sat down with Jen Psaki to discuss the critical role of federal workers—and the devastating impact Trump’s mass firings would have on our government and communities.”

In another tweet on the same day, she discussed Trump’s tariff policies during an appearance with Kaitlan Collins. She emphasized their negative impact on Minnesotans: “I joined Kaitlan Collins to break down Trump’s harmful tariff policies and how they would hit Minnesotans hardest.”

Two days later, on March 10, 2025, Rep. Omar commented on a potential government shutdown, attributing responsibility to Republicans for pushing a partisan resolution. Her statement read: “If the government shuts down, it’s 100% on Republicans… At a time when our government is already being hollowed out…”
