Ilhan Omar, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Minnesota’s 5th district, has recently voiced her opinions on various issues through a series of tweets. Omar, who has been serving in Congress since 2019, addressed concerns ranging from international trade to individual rights and corporate influence.

On March 10, 2025, Omar criticized former President Donald Trump’s trade policies. She expressed concern over the impact of these policies on Americans, particularly those in Minnesota who depend on Canadian power. She stated: “Trump’s reckless trade war is costing everyday Americans… We all deserve better than a leader who refuses to take responsibility for the mess he’s created.”

The following day, March 11, 2025, Omar tweeted about her efforts to secure the release of Mahmoud Khalil. She emphasized the importance of protecting constitutional rights against governmental overreach: “I signed a letter asking for Mahmoud Khalil’s immediate release… Free Mahmoud Khalil.”

Later that same day, Omar commented on what she perceives as detrimental actions by influential figures against essential public services. Her tweet read: “POV: a power-hungry billionaire and a corrupt president team up to destroy the very programs that keep people afloat.”
