On March 3, 2025, Rep. Omar highlighted her decision to invite Minnesota veteran Chris Wicker as her guest at Trump’s joint address. She stated: “Proud to have Minnesota veteran Chris Wicker as my guest at Trump’s joint address.” Omar noted that Wicker, an Air Force veteran, was dismissed twice by the Trump administration and represents numerous federal employees who lost their jobs due to budget cuts.
The following day, March 4, 2025, Rep. Omar criticized President Trump’s tariff policies. She tweeted: “Trump’s tariffs will be an economic disaster.” According to Omar, these tariffs would lead to job losses and increased prices while posing significant challenges for small businesses.
Later on March 4, she reiterated concerns about the impact of federal employee terminations under the Trump administration. She emphasized: “My constituent, Chris, is one of thousands of dedicated federal employees terminated by the Trump administration.” Omar warned that such actions could jeopardize access to essential services like Social Security and veterans’ benefits.
